HOW SOLOMON BECAME A HAWK: Drafted by the Hawks in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft • Signed to a contract on July 12, 2006. 2007 SUMMER LEAGUE: Carried averages of 5.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.0 bpg (tied for 10th at the Rocky Mountain Revue) and 0.7 spg in 17.3 mpg (.636 FG%, .800 FT%), appearing in all six contests (four starts). LAST SEASON (2006-07): Second-round pick became one of the top rookie shot-blockers in the league, ranking 6th among all first-year players (0.7 bpg) • Was also the only rookie with multiple games of 5 blocks (three times) last season • Played in 58 games, and averaged 3.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg and 0.2 apg (.508 FG%, .787 FT%) in 11.5 mpg • Started eight contests, averaging 7.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg and 0.9 bpg (.622 FG%, .773 FT%) • Hit a career-best 5-7 FGs in 31 mins @Phil (4/8) • Made his first career start on 3/7 v/Wash, totaling 8 pts, 4 rebs, 1 stl and 1 blk in 23 mins (2-4 FGs, 4-4 FTs) • Notched his first career double-double @Det (12/23) with 10 pts and 10 rebs • Hit 3-4 FGs and season-high 8-10 FTs for a season-best 14 pts @Sac (12/10) • Saw 25 mins of action @Orl (11/25) and responded with 4 pts, 4 rebs and 5 blks • Recorded his first career FG and FT v/Orl (11/5) • SEASON HIGHS: 14 pts (2x), 10 rebs @Det (12/23/06), 4 assts v/Mem (3/9/07), 1 stl (11x), 5 blks (3x), 34 mins @Clev (4/14/07), 5 FGM (2x), 8 FTM @Sac (12/10/06). COLLEGIATE CAREER: Jones was named Honorable Mention All-Big East as a senior at South Florida (2005-06), after averaging 13.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg (2nd in the Big East) and 3.1 bpg (third in the conference), making .484 FGs and .778 FTs • Jones also finished 12th in the Big East in free throw percentage • Recorded 13 double-doubles, and scored in double figures 21 times • As a junior (2004-05), Jones led the team in field goal percentage (.546) and blocks (64), adding 6.6 ppg and 6.2 rpg • Fourth all-time for the Bulls in blocks, despite playing there only two seasons • He was also a three-time member of the Big East's weekly honor roll as a senior • As a sophomore (2003-04) at Daytona Beach Community College, put up 11.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg • In his freshman campaign (2002-03), compiled 8.0 ppg and 6.4 rpg, hitting .580 FGs • Also blocked 38 shots.
